For Flute, guitar and percussion. The title is a playful inversion of Unorthodox Behaviour, Brand X’s debut album. Even then, I was drawn to connections between musical genres: the music I listened to and the compositional languages I was studying could meet and feed into one another.

For ensemble. The title playfully transforms a line from Christian Morgenstern’s poem Das Knie: “Es ist ein Knie, sonst nichts” (“It is a knee, nothing else”) becomes Est ist ein wie, sonst nicht (“It is a ‘how’, otherwise not”). Here, the “how” refers to the act of composing itself. The work dates from 1984, when I was studying with Franco Donatoni at the Accademia Chigiana.
