Il lavoro di vivere

Original music for Il lavoro di vivere, a Teatro Franco Parenti production of Hanoch Levin’s play, first staged in Milan in 2014.

Composition and production for theatre.

Teatro Franco Parenti.

At Teatro Franco Parenti, Milano, Italy, 28 Oct 2014 – 21 Dec 2014.

Notes

With Carlo Cecchi at its centre, the production moves between bitter comedy, tenderness and the fear of being alone.

The music develops from a single theme: a little klezmer-inflected waltz that gradually unravels. As the play unfolds, it frays, slows down and becomes increasingly inharmonic, before the theme is taken up again at the end.

First staged in Milan in 2014, the production returned to Teatro Franco Parenti in 2015 before touring in the 2016–17 season.
