The production premiered at Teatro Nuovo in Naples on 29 June 2019 as part of Napoli Teatro Festival Italia, before performances at Spoleto’s Festival dei Due Mondi and Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan.
Harrower’s play follows a young woman’s discovery of language, desire and knowledge within an isolated rural community. Original music, video and lighting accompany a staging that moves between the physical reality of this world and a more abstract theatrical language. The musical material combines original compositions with classical works selected by Andrée Ruth Shammah.
