Notes

The title is a nod to Gentle Giant’s Cogs in Cogs, acknowledging progressive rock as one of the work’s musical roots. Scored for electric guitar, four percussionists and live electronics, the piece brings this reference into a contemporary chamber ensemble.

The work was premiered by Luca Nostro and Blow Up Percussion on 20 June 2018 at Artificerie Almagià in Ravenna, as part of Bryce Dessner Night within Ravenna Festival’s Le 100 chitarre elettriche programme.
